Exotics and Reptiles

While it is true that the most common household pets in America are dogs and cats, there are plenty of pet owners who enjoy owning exotic pets–including rabbits, ferrets, guinea pigs, chinchillas, rats, mice, hamsters, snakes, lizards, turtles, tortoises and more. Simply because they are smaller or less common is no reason why these pets should be denied the benefit of quality, comprehensive veterinary care.

At Five Valleys Vet Clinic we are proud to provide veterinary services for exotic pets. Among the many services we provide are included wellness exams, spays and neuters for rabbits and other rodents, minor surgeries such as tumor removals and oral care, nail trims and wing clips. While we do encourage preventive care where possible, it is important to immediately schedule your exotic pet for a veterinary examination if they are experiencing decreased activity, decreased appetite, weight loss, changes in stool or urine, ocular or nasal discharge, bleeding, muscle twitching, weakness, changes in respiration or other abnormal behavior. As is the case with other, larger animals, early diagnosis and treatment is key to bringing about optimal results.
